See Your Future Balance
The Forecast tab in Violet Codex projects your account balance forward in time. Catch problems 90 days before they happen — not the day your account goes negative. This is one of the most powerful planning tools in the app.
What you'll learn
- Set up an expense account for forecasting your spending trajectory
- Import expenses from your Money Blueprint directly into the forecast
- Add income sources to see the full picture
- Set a minimum balance threshold and get warned about shortfalls
- Project your balance 90-365 days into the future with precision
Step 1: Set Up an Expense Account
Create a dedicated account for forecasting, or use your primary checking account. The forecasting engine runs a daily simulation loop, applying recurring income and expenses to project your balance day by day.
Step 2: Import from Your Blueprint
Click Import from Blueprint to pull in all your recurring expenses automatically. Each Blueprint item becomes a recurring event in the forecast with the correct frequency and amount.
Step 3: Set Your Minimum Balance Threshold
Define a minimum balance you never want to drop below—say $500 or $1,000. The forecast chart highlights any day where your projected balance dips below this floor, giving you weeks or months of warning to adjust spending.
Step 4: Run What-If Scenarios
Toggle individual events on and off to see "What if I..." scenarios. What if you cancel a subscription? What if you add a car payment? The chart updates instantly so you can see the long-term impact of every financial decision.
